Tips for Your First Year at American Military University

Starting your first year at American Military University can be challenging, but do not worry you will adjust fast. The school is all online so the first thing you should do is learn about the website. Take the time to review the layout of the pages and the different areas that you can access such as the online library or school store. Do not forget to review your records and make sure everything is in order and the correct contact information is on file. Make sure to do all of this before your classes start.

Once you have had a chance to look over the site and feel comfortable navigating around the school it is time to register for classes. One important thing to remember when registering for classes is to make sure you are registering for the right semester and start date. Since American Military University has a rolling start date classes begin every month with most offering either an 8 week semester or 16 week semester, so be sure you are registering for the right start date and length. Once you start your classes do not be shy communicate with your class mates and instructors. Just because it is an online school does not mean you should have to go it alone, the social aspect of going to college is part of the experience. Also talk with your instructors if you are having a problem or if you cannot make a due date, do not think that there is no help available to you, your instructors are very use to dealing with whatever issue you may have. Though most instructors are very lenient with due dates and deadlines do not put off work for the last minute if at all possible. If you do not make it at due date most instructors deduct points per day for every day that the work is late. But the number one thing to remember at American Military University or any online school is to stay focused. Being on line there are millions of things to distract you both online and in your home environment, you have to stay focused and remember you are doing this for your education which is a serious matter and should be treated as such.

Although you would think that taking online classes would be easier than actually attending them physically, I assure you that is not as true as you would think. The fact that you are most likely in your home with all the distractions that go along with it can make it very challenging to stay focused on what is important at that time. But if you can manage your detractions and stay focused you are sure to be successful and enjoy your experience with American Military University.
